About Us

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” John 15

Life Tree Community Church is a friendly place to worship, grow in your faith and connect with neighbors. It’s a place where everyone is welcome in a come-as-you-are environment.

The church body includes people from diverse backgrounds; some are just beginning to learn who Jesus is and what it means to have a relationship with Him. Other members have had an abiding relationship with the Lord for decades.

The praise team performs a mix of contemporary Christian music and traditional hymns. The children’s ministry explores fun and creative ways to help students learn and grow.

Several children have been baptized with their parents.

When it comes to the Sunday service, Pastor Jeff Elzinga said he enjoys the casual setting.

“We’re not pretentious about it,” he said. “You’ll see people wearing blue jeans and the occasional suit. But for the most part, people wear what they would wear to mom’s for dinner,” Pastor Jeff said.

Pastor Jeff said he felt God calling him to start a new church to reach people in Robinson Township and surrounding communities. Life Tree started in a friend’s living room two years ago, Pastor Jeff said.

Meanwhile, friends from area churches offered prayers, financial support and furnishings to get the church started. Life Tree received a place to call home when a former storefront on M-45 became available, offering the opportunity to connect with a larger audience.

Pastor Jeff leads the church while maintaining a full-time job with Meijer Inc., where he serves as a systems analyst. Church members have taken on volunteer roles to help Pastor Jeff keep things rolling smoothly.

Pastor Jeff has an open-book policy when it comes to preaching: His messages always come directly from the Bible, which he reads as part of his weekly sermons.

After his sermons, Pastor Jeff sits down in front of the congregation and invites comments and questions. Meanwhile, the congregation prays openly and shares communion on the second Sunday every month.

Several community outreach programs have touched the lives of West Michigan residents, including a low-income family that received gifts from the congregation for Christmas.

An estimated 75 people attend the church regularly, including a dozen or so children and teens.

Services begin 10:30 a.m. Sundays at 10933 Lake Michigan Drive. Feel free to call us at (616) 844-2978.
